Cashew News – March 2015

Greetings cashew lovers! Greetings GH Cashew fans!! GH Cashew has being working very hard this cashew season in our quest to add value to cashew from the farms to the shops. We had a big order Just as the season began to supply 500MT of raw cashew nuts to a company overseas . This put us on a hunt for raw cashew nuts.traveling from town to town, village to village and to settlement to settlement.. Tell us you have cashew on your farm and we are there already… This really opened our eyes deepening the fact that majority of Ghana’s raw materials comes from some of the most deprived and remote areas. Again, how our raw materials are being exported on a daily bases to the detriment of local industries… GH Cashew depends on cashew kernels to makes most of the stuff we do such as spiced roasted cashew kernels, cashew milk in various flavors, cashew butter, cashew cheese etc…. But our processor (processes raw cashew nuts for cashew kernels) then informed us of the challenges he is going through due to the constant rise in prices forraw cashew nuts, the tight competition among cashew buying companies and agents… Bottom line… The price of a kilo has gone up by virtually 45% or more… And that hit me like a thunderbolt….. Our first batch of roasted cashew kernel had just gone out,how do we just up prices by at least 40% to break even??? Well we negotiated another deal with our processor. GH Cashew was to source raw cashew nuts ourselves and present it to the processor. This way, we will only be charged the cost of processing instead of paying for...

Thinking aloud

The people you tried to know and the people you met accidentally -which one really stayed? Which ones have affected you (your life) positively? Which one did you spend so much time and energy on and yet still left you at a loss? Which ones are really and truly worth it? Just imagine all the time and energies you spent on the wrong people…and imagine where you would have been if you invested all that in your personal development. Experiences should guide you to handle things better, not lead you to attempt every similar situation with courage and not knowledge. Be careful who you chase because it might not be the...

Early morning stories at the Crops Research Institute

I was at the Crops Research Institute by 4:00AM yesterday to queue for hybrid cocoa pods which they actually start rationing at 9:00AM … I had to go that early so i could skip the long queue of hundreds of farmers that troop there every Tuesday morning…. I went with my farmer friend J.K Kwarteng (69 years) and to our surprise we met another farmer friend of ours, Agya Poku (75 years) there already….he was the first person in the queue and was there exactly 3.34AM he claimed. We joined him and the 3 of us sat down to chat.. omg i just love old people. Agya Poku was narrating his life stories and experiences to us…He was born in 1939…exactly a week after his birth there was EARTHQUAKE in Ghana… He shared stories of him as a little boy before independence and life after independence…political issues in the 60s,70s and the 80s…In short he was of the view that if you didn’t see Kwame Nkrumah’s Ghana then you haven’t enjoyed Ghana…Ghana became a mad woman as soon as they overthrew Nkrumah… This mad woman Ghana’s situation got worse and worse till the late 70s and early 80s when she finally stripped herself naked and started jumping naked at every market center. J.K. Kwarteng had already giving up on Ghana..he said he is 69.. and he doesn’t foresee himself spending another 69 years…he is just praying to see the fruit of his labour in 3 years so that after his death…the children and grand children will see that he had them in mind hence his cocoa project…. one thing they...

The deadly toll of farming in Ghana

I am here to bear witness to the high, sometimes deadly results of undertaking farming in Ghana. Unable to pay back loans taken out to capitalize farming operations, farmers in the Brong Ahafo Region have paid with their lives by committing suicide.

Blessed Sunrise

Blessed SUNRISE…give thanks to the most high gift of life and strength. I want to vent out something… I do cashew….so if you want toknow something about cashew and you inbox constantly for over 2 months and all I keep telling you is no worries I will contact you, what will you take me for??????? Well, what about if it was an health issue?????? Bottom line.. some Ghanaians go abroad and in other to save their ass from working they pick on advocacy – NGO for this NGO for that. Using the poor Ghanaian society as bargaining chips to enrich themselves. I call this EVIL! Check this… I have a sister with Autism and I am and have always been searching all over to get help for her condition. I came across this NABB Autism Support International by Ohemaa Abena Akyaa Boateng and I tell they are nothing better than toilet paper. Autism is a DISTURBING issue for families with autistic children so if you know you are not up to the task why raise hopes and then play with the emotions of families.? Is it for the attention? Probably the monies they getting from donors. I SAY NO TO THIS…IS EVIL and HEARTLESS. If you cant walk the talk don’t mention it at all… you can get more money and attention from being a breast tattoo model or porn star than to toying with the emotions of fragile families. HOTTER FYAH pon this Jezebel…LIGHTNING and...
